SI Raleigh Presents 130 Personal Care Kits To Haven House

February 10, 2016.  Soroptimist of Raleigh organized a collection drive for personal care items to  benefit the clients of Haven House Services.  Through collaboration with Von Kekel Aveda Lifestyle Salon Spas of Cary and Raleigh, over 130 bags were filled in February with personal care items including dental products, lotions, shampoos and deodorant.

Haven House Services, through the Outreach Center, provides homeless and street-dependent youth ages 17-23 with a safe and structured place for study, socialization, recreation, skill-building courses, and case manager/counselor meetings.

SI Raleigh Brings Joy to Haven House Teen Moms

December 31, 2015.  With SI Raleigh’s Christmas Angels project, Soroptimist members provided $1,680 worth of Christmas gifts to 10 teen girls and their 14 children at Raleigh’s Haven House in December.  Based on the moms’ wishes, Club members donated,  wrapped and delivered clothing, boots, laptops, educational tablets,  gift cards, gas cards, linens, a microwave, and bikes.  Before they came to Haven House, these teens were homeless.  They range in age from 19 – 22 years old and their children from newborn to age six.

Haven House logoHaven House reaches nearly 3,000 teens a year through 12 programs that focuses on issues such as kids having difficulty in the home, school and/or the community, and kids in crisis and/or homeless.

Raleigh Walk to Stop Child Trafficking Now Draws 200 Participants

Local citizens and community organizations raised over $8,000 to help end child slavery as more than 200 volunteers and walkers demonstrated their commitment to Stop Child Trafficking Now at a community walk in Raleigh on October 3.

Raleigh, NC (Oct. 11, 2010) – Soroptimist International of Raleigh, NC (Soroptimist), acting as an ambassador for Stop Child Trafficking Now (SCTNow), invited many in the community to raise awareness and funds to combat child trafficking, often called modern-day slavery. The 2nd Annual Raleigh Stop Child Trafficking Now WALK took place on Sunday October 3, 2010 at the NC Museum of Art Park and Greenway Trail on Blue Ridge Road.
