Our annual Holiday Brunch was attended by over 30 members, awardees, and friends for a festive morning of celebration, connection, and gratitude. This year’s event, held at High Park Bar & Grill in Raleigh, was beautifully organized by Lynn Kavcsak and the hospitality committee.
Holiday Angels
For many years now, Soroptimist International of Raleigh members have contributed to a Holiday Angels project. This year we raised $1,600 to provide gas and child care vouchers to women served by Seasons Village, an organization that also works with women who have dependents and are pursuing education and skills training. Many women pursuing education while raising a family face two persistent barriers: transportation and child care. That is why this year, instead of focusing on traditional gifts, the club raised these vital funds to help women stay in school.
Celebrating Our Awardees
We were honored to welcome two of our Live Your Dream Award recipients, Yvette and Brenda.
- Yvette shared exciting news: she will graduate from Duke Nursing School this month and has accepted a position as an oncology nurse at Johns Hopkins Hospital. Yvette also wrote us a thank you note that said how thankful she was for the award, and that without it she would have likely had to drop out of the program.
- Brenda also joined in the celebration, offering reflections on her own journey and the support she has received from our club.
Their resilience and accomplishments inspire us all.
Connecting with New Members
We were delighted to induct two new members into Soroptimist International of Raleigh. Please join us in giving a warm welcome to new members Kathleen Hurley and Linda Bonini.
Gratitude for a Joyful Morning
From the beautifully organized brunch to the uplifting conversations and heartfelt updates, this year’s gathering was a wonderful start to the holiday season.
