Jennifer is a determined mother of four whose journey reflects extraordinary perseverance. Raised in an environment marked by parental addiction and limited support, she was discouraged from pursuing higher education. Despite these barriers, she remained committed to building a better life for herself and her children. After leaving a long-term relationship, Jennifer began supporting her family on her own, working minimum-wage jobs while continuing to push toward her goals.
Although she dropped out of high school as a teenager, Jennifer later earned her GED with exceptional scores. Encouraged by college staff, she began exploring higher education. She first enrolled in community college in 2019, but a high-risk pregnancy and the COVID-19 pandemic forced her to pause her studies. Refusing to give up, Jennifer returned to school in 2024 and enrolled online at Southern New Hampshire University, to obtain a bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration.
Jennifer’s instructors describe her as kind, empathetic, and deeply committed to making a positive impact. She engages thoughtfully with classmates and is driven by a desire to address inequities and promote equality. Jennifer’s story is one of resilience, growth, and unwavering dedication to her education. With the support of this award, she plans to continue strengthening her skills and expanding her career opportunities.
