La’Dasia’s career goal is to become a Registered Nurse on the Labor and Delivery unit. She is pursuing an Associate Degree in Nursing at Wake Technical Community College.

La’Dasia was one of five siblings in a single-parent household that was frequently in and out of homeless shelters. In high school, La’Dasia often ran with the “wrong crowd.” After becoming pregnant in her junior year, she put her full effort into graduating on time. La’Dasia attended summer school to get caught up and graduated with her class while maintaining a job and being a teen mom.

Two years after graduating and without a stable place to live, La’Dasia gave birth to her second child. She decided to make changes and moved to NC to start a new life.

Success in college – and in life – requires intelligence, perseverance, determination, and drive… all characteristics that describe La’Dasia. She looks at her past struggles as stepping-stones that are paving a path to a successful life.

La’Dasia tells us, “This award will help me pay for my books, supplies, and tuition needed to reach my goal of becoming a nurse. Not only will it help me reach my goal, it will add inspiration for me to keep reaching for my dreams!”
