Rose is a dedicated mother of a young daughter and a first-generation college student pursuing a bachelor’s degree in political science at North Carolina Central University (NCCU). She expects to graduate in December 2026 and is preparing for the LSAT with the goal of entering law school. Balancing full-time coursework, part-time work, and parenting has demanded resilience, discipline, and a deep commitment to her long-term goals.
Rose’s interest in law was shaped by witnessing her family losing land due to deceptive practices. That experience strengthened her desire to advocate for fairness and protect vulnerable communities. In addition to her other responsibilities, Rose also contributes to her campus community. She founded “Legally HERstory,” a pre-law organization designed to support African American women pursuing careers in law through mentorship, professional development, and peer connection.
Rose sees the Live Your Dream Award as more than just a financial award. While the grant will help pay for childcare, transportation, and essentials, she says “more importantly, it would give me peace of mind, knowing that I really do have support, knowing someone believes in my dreams too.”
