On October 29, eight members of Soroptimist International of Raleigh prepared, delivered, and served a warm home-cooked meal of chili, corn muffins, and cookies to 70 women experiencing homelessness at the Women’s Center of Wake County.
Led by Service Committee chair Julie Waller, the project required thoughtful planning and coordination, including shopping for ingredients, meal preparation, and organizing volunteers. The effort fostered meaningful fellowship among members and revealed some impressive culinary talents within the group.
The women expressed deep appreciation for both the food and the kindness shown by volunteers, as well as for the opportunity to learn more about Soroptimist International of Raleigh’s mission and programs.
This service project exemplifies Soroptimist’s commitment to women helping women. By supporting the Women’s Center, members met an urgent need within the community and demonstrated the organization’s ongoing dedication to service, compassion, and empowerment.
