Soroptimist International of Raleigh (SIR) is pleased to announce it has selected 6 recipients—Cecilia, Shannon, Giordanna, Erica, Tamara and Mia—with its Live Your Dream Education and Training Awards for Women. Each awardee received a $2,000 cash grant and was honored at an awards luncheon on Saturday, April 13.

To be eligible for the Soroptimist Live Your Dream: Education & Training Awards, the applicants must serve as the financial head of household and be enrolled in an educational or training program intended to further their career aspirations. Our awardees this year reflect a variety of interests and goals, from a career in dentistry to social work to hospitality. Their backgrounds and dreams may be diverse, but they all have in common a desire to inspire and help others, and to make a better future for themselves and their families.

The Live Your Dream awards program is unique in that recipients may use the cash grant to offset any costs associated with their efforts to attain higher education—such as books, childcare, tuition and transportation. Since 1989, Soroptimist Raleigh has granted over $107,000 to women in our local communities. Soroptimist International of Raleigh is a local club of Soroptimist®, a global volunteer organization dedicated to improving the lives of women by providing access to the education and training needed to achieve economic empowerment. Soroptimist distributes more than $2.9 million in education grants each year, aiding more than 2,000 women to overcome roadblocks on their way to a better future.
