Each December, Raleigh Soroptimists support women served by local organizations by providing Christmas gifts for them and their families. We call this our Christmas Angels service project. In past years, we have worked with organizations such as The Salvation Army, Read and Feed, The Women’s Center, and Interact. The value of our collective gift contributions is typically $1,200-$1,600 each year. But since this is 2020, we’ll be doing things a bit differently this year.
This year, we are pleased to provide Christmas gifts to the families of seven women who are prior recipients of our Soroptimist Live Your Dream: Education and Training Awards for Women. These women have overcome tremendous challenges and our award has helped them accomplish their educational goals as they pursue their dream of a better life for their family.
Unlike last year’s event as shown above, we’ll be doing things a bit differently this year. Raleigh Soroptimists will participate in a drive-through event on December 5 to drop off presents to be delivered to the families and enjoy a socially-distanced, outdoors event with light refreshments. We always look forward to this service project as a way to bring joy during the holidays and encourage the recipients with a gesture of caring and kindness.
