Demetrica will receive her Associate’s Degree in Human Services Technology and Substance Abuse from Wake Technical Community College in December 2019. She plans to pursue a Bachelor’s degree at UNC-Greensboro.
Demetrica has worked with children and adults with disabilities for over 23 years. Her goal is to become a substance abuse counselor to help individuals overcome their addictions and find their way back to becoming productive citizens.
Demetrica left an abusive relationship and raised two children as a single mom. Her teenage son was diagnosed with autism when he was 8 years old. Demetrica’s work with autistic children helped prepare her to be a strong advocate for her son.
Demetrica’s supervisors praise her for her “positive attitude and commitment to treating each patient with dignity and respect as she helps them reach their full potential.”
