In July, Soroptimist Raleigh members Carolyn Skowron and Lashonda White traveled to Bellevue, Wash., for the Soroptimist International of the Americas (SIA) 48th Biennial Convention.

The inspiring event brought together nearly 700 members representing 360 Soroptimist clubs from around the world, making it an impressive gathering of women dedicated to empowering others.

Highlights included dynamic speakers who captivated the audience with their stories of perseverance and unwavering determination. Workshops that provided invaluable tools and strategies on fundraising and volunteer management, as well as insights into the future of SIA’s programs.

Also noted was Soroptimist’s global impact and the relationship between Soroptimist and the United Nations. Soroptimist has 21 UN delegates, placing it in a unique position to effect change.

Above all, the convention offered unparalleled opportunities to network within the Soroptimist community with events such as Friendship Day where members wore traditional dress reflecting their country’s culture and the Denim and Diamonds Dance Party.

The success continues in July 2026, so get your passports ready, pack your walking shoes, and mark your calendar for the 49th Soroptimist Biennial Convention in Incheon, South Korea.
