Soroptmist launched its first year-long Dream It, Be It (DIBI) program in September at Mt. Vernon Middle School in Raleigh. There are seven girls in 7th grade and 13 in 8th grade participating. The monthly workshops to date have dealt with stress, self-care and rising above obstacles. Future sessions will discuss creating achivable goals, exploring careers and will culminate with a career day in May.

Marianne Breneman, DIBI chair, has this to say about the program. “It’s an honor to work with these middle school girls on social emotional skills, confidence, and the early stages of their career interests. We have chosen to present the curriculum over the course of an academic year and we are looking forward to seeing the growth in the young ladies from the start of the school year in September until they finish in late May.”
